Welcome to the Folly Beach Captains Association! United by a commitment to sustainability, community, and stewardship, we strive to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity in ecotourism.
Our mission is to support each other, care for our coastline, and provide unforgettable experiences for all who visit. Together, we navigate a course toward a thriving future for our local waterways, and the industries that depend on them.
In the last several years there have been numerous new charter business opening in the area. We hope to use this group to create a sense of community and camaraderie between operators and to ensure the best possible experience for all clients while taking care of the ecosystem we all love and its inhabitants.

As a member of the Folly Beach Captains Association, you’ll enjoy professional networking opportunities, community, and shared knowledge of current events around the estuary.
Do I have to be a captain to get involved with the association?
Yes, at this time you must hold a valid captains license to join.

Are you on social media?
Absolutely! We have a group for our members to share facts (manatee sighting?!), have discussions, and stay up to date on ecotourism courtesy.
Membership Requirements
- Have a valid USCG credenial
- Operate in the Folly Beach area
- Maintain vessel according to USCG regulations or SCDNR for 6pax boats
- Attend WAVE seminar through Lowcountry Marine Mammal Network (1/29/25)
- Be courteous to other operators, recreational boaters, and wildlife
- Attend one meet and greet meeting per year
